"Play Ball" tells a more remarkable story than what you see at first glance. It's a narrative brilliantly staged in its perspective—a tale of life and games, shapes, and lines. The architecture and buildings form perfect lines around the central circle, the ball, resembling a symphony of shapes, textures, colours, and lines, all leading the eye to the ball.
The photo exudes an atmosphere without any setup. Alan assumes the role of an observer, capturing these almost perfect moments. Each element plays its part in conveying the story of urban childhood, a nostalgia even adults can experience while playing sports, in this case, football (soccer). The surroundings all converge towards the object—the one that momentarily erases your surroundings.
